Thanksgiving

I am blessed to have so many things to be thankful for, and I enjoy my little tradition of taking a moment to write one down each day in November leading up to Thanksgiving.

24
Today, I am thankful for happy, healthy kids and a beautiful Thanksgiving Day! Looking forward to our whole family being reunited in less than 2 short months.

23
Today, I am thankful for breastfeeding and babywearing. I don't know what Susanna and I would do without it! Even through illnesses without another adult to help, I am able to hold her constantly and nurse her back to health quickly. (She's better now.)

22
Today, I am thankful that I wasn't able to take a shower while Susanna was sick. I discovered that I don't need to wash my hair everyday!

21
Today, I am thankful that Susanna's fever is gone and she woke up asking about her baby doll.

20
Today, I am thankful that I am able to mother my children full time. I was planning to be away today but Susanna has a fever so I will be home nursing her instead.

19
Today, I am thankful for midwives.

18
Today I am thankful for La Leche League. I met one of my very best friends when I first started attending meetings nearly 4 years ago and LLL has been such a blessing in my life ever since. From leading meetings to taking help calls to helping moms in my living room, I love it all. Conferences are pretty fantastic, too! It was at an LLL conference that I learned about Waldorf education. Hoping to go to the one here in VA next May!

17
Today I am thankful that the jeans I bought at Costco yesterday fit! Favorite brand, too.

16
Today, I am thankful for all the people in my life.

15
Today, I am thankful for my kids' cuteness. When I commented that Susanna nurses a lot, Gabe replied, "It's because she's a baby and babies nurse a lot." Susanna saw a picture of her doll in a catalog and went on and on about "Mine baby, come out, dat's mine baby."

14
Today I am thankful for that we get to go outside and enjoy the nice weather!

13
Today I am thankful that, even though my kids missed about 2 hours of sleep last night (thank you chocolate ice cream before bed), the meltdowns waited until after church. The tot is down for an early nap.

12
Today I am thankful that I was able to go get a haircut!

11
Today, I am thankful for my husband who not only provides for us, but is an active parent in our family, teaching the children through love and patience - never violence. When we were dating in college, I asked him why he wanted to be in the Navy since our earning potential would be higher in the civilian world. He was in ROTC at the time and he answered that he felt it was his duty to serve his country. I admit that I tried to talk him out of the military, but I couldn't really argue with that!

10
Today, I am thankful that I get to wake up snuggled between 2 joyful children every morning. They are so sweet and just happy to be living life.

9
Today, I am thankful for our cleaning service. It is soooooo helpful to me to have them come every 2 weeks and worth every penny and more!

8
Today, I am thankful for our homeschool co-op. Usually at least once a week Gabe asks me, "Is today Tuesday?" and when I say no, he says, "Make sure to take me to homeschool co-op on Tuesday."

7
Today, I am thankful that the soreness in my jaw from wisdom teeth removal is getting less and less everyday!

6
Today I am thankful that one of my best friends will be moving near me next year! Post something you are thankful for everyday in November.

5
Today, I am thankful that this first deployment has been such a positive experience for everyone. With only being 4 years into this military career thing, we've got many to go!

4
Today, I am thankful for hydrogen peroxide, Facebook, and our indoor playset. Hydrogen peroxide because it cleared up a topical infection in one of my wisdom tooth sockets overnight. Facebook because of the ease of communicating with my local community of like minded parents. Our indoor playset because it keeps my children very busy (like um, right now.)

3
Today, I am thankful that I no longer need ibuprofen for post-op pain!

2
Today, I am thankful for my amazing community of friends. No matter what I need, they are always there to give me the support and information that I'm looking for.

Today, I am thankful that I got to talk to my husband for 36 minutes on the phone while I cooked dinner.
My girl enjoying a beautiful day.
